America is aging rapidly. In 2024, the number of Americans aged 65 and older reached 61.2 million, a 13% increase in just four years, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Among older adults living in the community, 16.2 million lived alone, according to the Administration for Community Living.
At the same time, families and caregivers are carrying more responsibility. In 2025, 63 million Americans—nearly one in four adults—were providing ongoing care, an increase of 20 million over the previous decade, according to AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving.
Behind these numbers are millions of deeply personal moments: an older adult spending long hours alone, a family member worrying from across town, or a caregiver stretched across more people than time allows.
Nurox exists to help close those gaps.
Our mission is to build technology that helps older adults remain safe, independent, and connected—while extending the reach of the families and caregivers who support them.
Alva is the first expression of that mission. It is being developed as an AI-powered care robot that can understand its surroundings, support everyday routines, recognize when something may need attention, and help families and caregivers stay connected and informed.
Alva is not designed to replace human care. Human presence, compassion, and judgment are irreplaceable. Alva is designed to strengthen them—providing greater awareness and support during the moments when another person cannot be in the room.
We are building Alva deliberately and in close conversation with older adults, families, caregivers, clinicians, and senior-living communities. Because in care, trust is not simply a feature. It is the foundation.
Our goal is not only to build a more capable robot. It is to help create a future in which every person can grow older feeling seen, supported, and never alone.
